About the Course

Introduction to Computer Science is an extension of
the course Digital Connections. The course uses theExploring Computer Science Curriculum developed
at UCLA and supported by the Broadening Participation in Computing division of the National Science Foundation (Into the Loop).

The course is presented in three parts: Hardware, Societal Effects of Computing, and Introduction to Computer Programming using the Python programming language. The curriculum uses an inquiry-based learning model and each unit concludes with an in-
depth project.

This course is the foundation of computer science as a field of study and is intended for students who may be interested in majoring in computer science, electrical engineering, math or
science in college. This course satisfies the computer
requirement for graduation.
