About the Course

Introduction to Computer Science is an extension of the GHS course Digital Connections. The course uses the Exploring Computer Science Curriculum developed at UCLA and supported by the Broadening Participation in Computing division of the National Science Foundation (Into the Loop).

The course is presented in four parts: Human Computer Interaction, Problem Solving, Web Design, Introduction to Computer Programming, and Computer Applications. The curriculum uses an inquiry-based learning model and each unit concludes with an in-depth project. The Python Programming Language is used to help teach Computer Science topics.

This course is the foundation of computer science as a field of study and is intended for students who may be interested in majoring in computer science, electrical engineering, math or science in college. This course satisfies the computer requirement for graduation.
